The only school in Simpson County that has an Archery Class/Team is Simpson Central.  Monday, February 4th Mageenews.com visited the 5th and 6th Grade Classes and the 7th and 8th Grade Classes to see just what the Archery Team consist of.
Wow!!  What a great group of students in their Archery shooting!!  Every student in the class has the same opportunity as the next to hit the bulls eye!!  Competitions range through Junior High to High School leaving no-one less qualified… Unless you don't follow the rules or do not make the points on the target!!
Every student has the same bow and arrows and the weight of the draw can be fixed according to the child's capability to pull back.  This does not mean the 5th grader cannot beat the 12th grader at all.  It is a matter of concentration!!
Competitions has begun and Simpson Central was definitely on top of their game with other schools last week.
Today's classes consisted of 7th and 8th grade girls whom came from basketball season into archery!!  They love the sport and are very excited to have it at Simpson Central.
Those students are: Hevin, Coach Walker, Arrion, Daneasha, Marandy, Jaylissa, Shamarra, Angelle, Asia, and Zataria.
The other class that performed for us at MageeNews.com was the 5th and 6th grade team.
Those students were:  Rae'Shawn, Marla, Junkevious, Coach Walker, Steven, Briana H., Zac, Brandon, Jacob, Jessica, Myesha, Mikayla, J.W., Michael Braodie, Carly, Kolby, and Brianna M.
Coach and Teacher Jeffery Walker has done a fantastic job with this program and appreciates all the sponsors and the hard work of his students.  They all seem to really enjoy the sport and I think personally they have so much respect for him and how he is making a huge difference in their lives..
I actually had to take a shot at the target however, it is true that the hunting bows are much different than the classroom bows.  Had the target been higher and on the wall, I would have hit it….
We wish you the best of luck students in your competition.
