Timothy Charles Bourn, 49, lost his life Thursday morning, October 11th, due to a hunting accident in Pinola.  Mr. Bourn is from Sumrall, MS and has property in Simpson County where he loves to hunt.

Despite Pinola Rescue, AMR, and AirCare's  great efforts, Mr. Bourn died at the scene where he had grabbed a small rotten limb above his ladder stand as he was climbing a little further to his seat and fell 25 to 30 feet straight on his back.  Sergeant Chris Wallace of the Simpson County Sheriff's Department says that the three responding could not have done any more to try and save Mr. Bourn's life. Also, it is understood that there was NO known malfunction of the tree stand itself.

The last to hear from him by phone for help was two of his friends who were hunting on leased land across from Bourn's property.  He was able to reach them by cell phone and they called 911.  The AirCare landed in a yard of a home in Pinola.  There were people helping direct medical personnel from the highway into the area where Mr. Bourn was located, which was approximately 1 mile into the woods.

The accident was near Big Hill Road and Little Hope Road in Pinola.

We are so saddened to hear of this horrible accident and we send our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of this Husband, Father, Son, and Friend.

May God bring you comfort and peace at this very moment.

To all hunters, please use extreme caution when climbing into your stands while deer hunting.

I appreciate this article on how Tim's accident happened, how helpful these men were out there on this morning trying to get their friend to the rescue as quickly as they could. It has saddened us all that knew him and friends to this family. He loved hunting and shared it with many of his friends. He will be missed and not forgotten by us all. Please men and women wear those harness and be careful and don't take a chance while climbing and hunting.
